A positive and presidential speech by current incumbent Donald Trump has seen the stock market soar today. As the market climbs to an unprecedented territory, let’s take a walk down the memory lane and look at the market’s reaction to US Presidential ‘State of the Union’ speeches yesteryears.

We will be incorporating the following dataset in our feature extraction and learning engine, and observe the impact via back-testing previous results. While the immediate impact may appear marginal, however, such speeches often outline a broader, long-term view of fundamental policies that shape the socio-economic growth in the US markets, thus validating its importance as a non-negligible dataset.
